Lake Chelan Road Trip

What more could anyone ask for... Sunshine, wine tasting, fresh air, man's best friends, and my best friends!

That was one of the nicest pre-birthday presents I've ever received. My neighbor and friend, Janine, now has a home (I call it the Manson Mansion) overlooking Lake Chelan. She's been inviting me to spend time there for the last year, but it wasn't until this past week that I could find the time. Even better - our friend, Susan, was able to find time also. Since we all have our own businesses, we had those last minute doubts about whether we should go or not, but once on the road - there was no question it was a great decision!

It was a glorious three days full of sunshine and walks every day with Hank and Maggie. Monday, Janine broke us in with only a two mile jaunt, tempered with wine tasting at two wineries, A Hard Row to Hoe and Wapito Cellars. I'm a wimp when it comes to wine. For some reason, the tannins and histamines just don't agree with me, but I was in heaven taking photos.

Tuesday, we walked 3.5 miles, bought a blueberry pie on Blueberry Hill and visited a couple more wineries that were closed, but afforded beautiful vistas. Allison's in Manson, a beautiful boutique and furniture store, found us poking around and visiting with the saleswoman, who had lived in Janine's Manson home. Click on the photo at the right to check out the title of the book I found in the store. :-)

Wednesday, we had to leave early so the walk was only a couple miles. Janine and Susan indulged me as I hunted for some specific photo props in second hand and antique shops in Chelan. I didn't come home with what I was looking for, but did find two great panels of white picket fencing. Such a deal at $17.50 each; I couldn't pass them up. Now I have to figure out where I should put them.

The wonderful thing about photography - I was able to relive the trip again as I edited and played with special effects going through the photos. It was a delightful experience, one I hope to have again soon. Go to www.BonnieKingPhotography.com to see photo highlights of the Lake Chelan Road Trip.
