About Me

Scott & Bonnie
I've been a dabbler in the arts most of my life, from drawing lessons at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to writing for a magazine in Sydney, Australia, and now - teaching a memoir writing class. Photography came much later.

I paid the bills by following a career path which led me from one opportunity to another. After graduation from Washington State University with a BA in Education  and a minor in Language Arts, I became a grade school teacher. Before long, my desire to travel took me to New York City where I worked as a computer programmer. A year later, I found myself working in Sydney, Australia as a teacher, banquet sales officer, and later as a wedding consultant. Little did I know I'd be taking wedding pictures later in life!

Returning to Washington, I found more open doors as a recreation director, marketing specialist, city, county, and state administrator, owner of a dating service, a workshop presenter, and public speaker. Somewhere between county and state administrator positions, I earned my master's degree in Whole Systems Design (organization development) from Antioch University, Seattle.

My proudest accomplishments are my daughters, Courtney and Kendall. Courtney is a registered nurse at Children's Hospital in Seattle and Kendall teaches science at Kallas Junior High in Puyallup. Both are married to wonderful men and I now have grandchildren. I'm so blessed.

I was able to pursue my artistic interests thanks to my husband, Scott Haverly, and retirement from public service in 2008. Scott had been engaged in videography and photography for over 17 years. He recently opened a studio, King Recording Studios, specializing in vocal and instrumental recordings. He is also coaching novice voice actors in the art of doing voice over work. In 2008, I followed his creative lead and Bonnie King Photography was the result. My in-home studio is well equipped to produce excellent results. And I can take photos on location, whether it's in your home or elsewhere.

I have two special areas of interest: one is family photography - capturing a memorable individual pose to be shared with friends, recording the dynamic of a family (including pets), or memorializing a special event such as a wedding.

The second is glamour and tasteful boudoir photography. It's not always about makeup, hair and clothes, although that's great fun too! My definition of this photography genre is tastefully creating an image showing a woman's softer, playful, sometimes sensual side. Most importantly, it's about showing her inner beauty.

A portion of my proceeds are donated to local area charities. I hope to see you soon!
