Hard to believe that in just a few days - six to be exact - my "new" 19-1/2 year old granddaughter will be arriving to stay with Courtney, Ron and Ben. I'm not sure if I'll get to meet her Wednesday or have to wait for the barbeque being planned for Thursday. But Courtney informed me that picture taking in my studio (yes, I'll be in some of them this time) will happen on Friday morning and probably school clothes shopping for Karina on Saturday. Saturday is a girls' only day for Courtney, Kendall, Karina and me. Can't wait!
But then again, we've been waiting 19-1/2 years. I still remember the day Courtney gave birth to Karina. I was there along with Courtney's best friend, Krista, and Krista's mom whose name is also Bonnie. At one point in the birthing process, I clearly remember Courtney saying, "I can do this!" And of course she did and the result was a beautiful, healthy baby girl who was lovingly received by her new parents, Hans and Laura.
I gave them a bear as a gift for Karina before they left the hospital. You can imagine my delight when I found out that Karina still has the bear and he goes everywhere with her. I'll be meeting him again too. When he left Puyallup years ago, he carried a few tear stains and you can bet that if he's in sight when Karina and I meet again, he'll be used to blot some more tears - of joy this time!
