They're both walking! Last week's play date at Nana B's for grandsons Benjamin and Micah (their moms were allowed to play too) was the first time both boys could see eye to eye. Well, almost eye to eye. Ben is about a head taller than Micah.
When I mentioned that Ben will be the basketball player and Micah the football player, Kendall quickly added, "Jon and I are hoping Micah will be playing golf during football season." Oh, how we all project and forecast. While we were talking about what the boys might be doing years from now, Ben was studying Micah's every move. How come he's standing up? Last time I saw him, he was on the floor all the time. Now he's doing my thing!
While Ben was studying, Micah was busy exploring and every once in a while letting out a VERY LOUD SCREAM - just because he could. This sent Ben scurrying tearfully to his mom. What's he doing that for?! There were times, however, when Micah realized Ben was able to do some things he couldn't, like get in and out of the wagon easily. The look on his face says it all. And the look on both their faces says even more.
My how times have changed. I didn't have a clue when I was raising the girls that you could teach infants sign language. Micah and Ben both know how to tell their moms when their done eating by raising or waving their hands. Micah has added to his repertoire and uses the sign for "more food" by touching his fingers together. I knew my girls were done when they threw food on the floor or fed the cat. And "more" of anything was pretty clear when they jumped up and down, screamed and yelled. It's amazing - they turned out to be wonderful women and mothers anyway.
The play date was a huge success. The boys played and their moms talked a mile a minute to catch up with each other about their busy lives. While this was the first time the boys had seen eye to eye, standing on their own two feet, my eyes were busy too - capturing the wonder of it all and being so grateful that I'm their Nana B. www.BonnieKingPhotography.com
