Benched and Proud of It

Benjamin Hilton Lee Evans made his grand entrance weighing eight pounds, eight ounces. He had quite an audience. The nurse warned that unless all of us could sit on the bench provided at the side of the birthing room, someone would have to go. My daughter, Courtney, had her place of honor in the bed. Her husband Ron was a given - since he was the birth coach. Courtney's best friend had to stay since she was there to coach Ron, the nervous father. Susan, Courtney's step mom from out of town, had to stay and of course her sister, Kendall, who is also pregnant and expecting in December was a must. So you can bet I was not going to be the one squeezed off the bench!  After all, I'm Courtney's mom and from 5:20 pm on Friday, September 17, 2010, I will hereafter be known as "Nanna B!"
